Furthermore, Trump indicated he would contemplate similar action against Los Angeles for the upcoming Olympic Games due to possible security concerns.

Even though Trump holds no formal power to personally cancel either competition, he may lobby the organizing committees in charge of each event to move venues.

These remarks were made during a news conference with Javier Milei, who was present in the presidential residence following the announcement of a massive rescue package for the South American nation. Near the end of the event, a reporter questioned Trump about a current unauthorized gathering in the city where law enforcement were assaulted and a police vehicle was burned. The journalist also wondered if these incidents could cause the removal of tournament responsibilities for the expanded football competition.

“We could take them away,” he said regarding the World Cup matches, set to be hosted at the Massachusetts arena. “Their mayor is not good … she’s radical left, and they’re dominating sections of downtown. That’s a pretty big assertion, isn't it?”
